In this 2-for-1 presentation Bahram Rahman will read and explore two of his stories at the Museum of Lennox and Addington.
The session will feature a reading of If You See a Bluebird, which tells the story of Ali, a young Afghan refugee adjusting to life in Canada. Through storytelling and interactive discussions, Rahman explores themes of home, memory, and the emotional challenges faced by refugee children. This session offers a compassionate perspective on resettlement, highlighting resilience and the importance of belonging, all in a child-friendly manner.
Stick around for a reading of A Sky-Blue Bench, which tells the story of Aria, an Afghan girl who is going back to school after recovering from an injury. She has a helper-leg, and despite the difficulties she faces, Aria is determined to find a solution to her problems using the limited resources she has access to. The discussion will focus on Rahman’s approach to writing children’s books and the personal stories that inspired A Sky-Blue Bench.
Time: 10:30AM (*at 1:00pm Bahram will give a presentation on If You See a Bluebird that is more appropriate for adults. See details here.)
Cost: FREE
For children and families.
No pre-registration is required.
